Shay Moore is radio…a self-proclamation, but a statement that has been co-signed from the countless listeners, co-workers and industry insiders that have encountered her work all over the United States, Canada and even the world. She has held just about every position in radio that one can hold, on-air personality (mornings, middays, afternoons, nights and overnights), assistant program director, program director, and also promotions and marketing director over her 14 year career. Recently adding Actress to her list of accomplishments, the future is bright and limitless!
Shay was born in Queens, NY and showed no signs of having a career in broadcasting. As a matter of fact, she suffered from a stutter that caused her not to speak much at all. However, after her family moved from New York to Atlanta, she found her niche as the half-time announcer for Charles Lincoln Harper High School’s band. Shay quickly discovered that when she talked people listened.
She attended Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC- one of the country’s most prestigious HBCU’s and earned a bachelor’s degree in communications. She began her career in radio at WPEG- Charlotte, and later at WBAV- Charlotte. Shay’s radio career has taken her to many cities including WBLK- Buffalo, NY, KSJM- Wichita, KS, KRNB- Dallas, TX, K104-Dallas, TX, WVEE- V103 Atlanta and most currently WYLD-FM & Q93 New Orleans.
Shay is just as known for her community involvement as she is known for her signature sound and infectious laugh . She has developed several community events including “Shay’s Christmas 4 All” a toy and cash drive to benefit underprivileged youth in Buffalo. NY, “Shay’s Prom Project” which collected over 500 new and gently used prom gowns to benefit high school girls in need, “Still, I Rise Women’s Empowerment Seminar” in Dallas, TX and in 2011 “Who Runs the World? Girls! Back-to-School Event in Atlanta, GA and Buffalo, NY which provided high school girls free school suppplies, personal hygiene items and laptops. She has been honored by many community, civic and social organizations including honors from her sorority Delta Sigma Theta for her outstanding community service.
You can also hear Shay as the voice of several local, regional and national commercial ads including Publix Supermarkets (Back-to-School 8/10, Bouquet 12/11, Pizza Problem 3/12), Primose Schools, Coca-Cola (History Makers 2/12) & more! She has also voiced characters in 3 anime cartoons- “Requiem for the Phantom” as Lizzie Garland, “Soul Eater” as Mira Naigus and several characters in “Eden of the East.”
